Near me
The list leans local. The guess stays in your browser.
Open the directory and it usually leans toward your country already. That is a guess, read from the region in your browser's own language setting, with the time zone as a fallback. Nothing is sent anywhere to produce it, and clearing the country filter takes one click.
Near me is the precise version, and you choose whether to press it. It asks for location permission through the browser's own prompt, then sorts by how far each start line is from you. Your coordinates stay on your device.
What this is not
A starting set, with the gaps named.
74 events is a small fraction of what is run each year, and the coverage is uneven. The set is being extended, so treat an absence here as a gap in the directory rather than evidence that a race does not exist.
There are no entry fees, registration links or official race websites here, and no start times, field sizes or results. Once a race is on your shortlist, go to the organizer directly. That is where fees and closing dates actually live.
FAQ
Race directory questions, answered.
What the directory covers, how the dates are worked out, and what it deliberately does not hold.
01What is the RunPT race directory?
The RunPT race directory is a free, filterable list of 74 running events across 17 countries and 59 cities, holding 112 individual race distances from 5K to ultra. Each event lists its city, country, surface, a short description, and the date of every distance it offers. You can filter by country, distance, month and surface, then sort by date, by popularity, or by how far the start is from you.
02How do I find a running race near me?
Press the Near me button in the RunPT race directory and allow the browser's location prompt, and the list re-sorts by how far each start line is from you. Your coordinates are used inside the page and are not sent to RunPT. You can decline the prompt. Without it, the country filter does most of the same work, and the directory already leans toward one country based on a guess from your browser's language setting.
03Can I use this as a marathon calendar?
Yes, within its coverage. Filter the RunPT race directory to the marathon race type and sort by date, and you get a marathon calendar for the 17 countries in the set, running forward from today. Dates resolve to the next edition of each event automatically. The set holds 74 events in total, not every marathon in the world, so it works better as a way to build a shortlist than as a national calendar.
04How accurate are the race dates in the directory?
Most dates in the RunPT race directory are reliable, and the uncertain ones are labeled. Dates come from each event's recurrence rule, such as the last Saturday of May, resolved forward to the next edition. A date confirmed by the organizer overrides the rule where one exists. 27 of the 74 events carry an unverified rule, meaning the month holds but the exact weekend can move year to year. Confirm with the organizer before booking travel.
05Does the directory show race elevation and course profiles?
Partly. 27 of the 112 race distances in the RunPT race directory have a verified total elevation gain in meters, and 26 have a route polyline that the site draws as a course outline map. Where gain exists, it is reported as elevation gain per kilometer plus a course character band, derived from gain, distance and surface. There is no per-point elevation data, so no hill-by-hill elevation graph is drawn.
06Can I register for a race from the directory?
No. The RunPT race directory holds no entry fees, no registration links and no official race websites, and no start times, field sizes, qualifying standards or results either. It is built to help you find events and see when they fall. Once a race is on your shortlist, go to the organizer's own site to enter, because that is where fees, closing dates and entry conditions live and change.
07I found a race. How do I train for it?
Pick the race date first, then build the training backward from it. RunPT is a personal running coach for iPhone that builds a personalized plan for a 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon goal and tells you what to run each day. It reviews runs imported from COROS, Polar, Suunto or Apple Health and can adjust upcoming training when they materially change what should come next. Web signups get a 14-day free trial, no payment required. RunPT provides training guidance, not medical advice.
